max Weiner Training

At Max Weiner Training, I help active adults eliminate chronic pain, restore mobility, and build strength that lasts. My coaching focuses on pain-free, full-range progressions designed to balance the body, address weak links, and support confident, athletic performance at any age.

Using ATG training principles as developed by 'kneesovertoesguy', we work from the ground up to restore structural balance and healthy, resilient joints. Every program begins with a movement assessment and progresses through pain-free regressions tailored to your individual needs—so you can move better, train smarter, and feel more athletic without pain holding you back.

In addition to working with adults focused on longevity and pain-free performance, I also train young athletes looking to improve movement quality, reduce injury risk, and become the most athletic version of themselves. Training is offered through private one-on-one coaching as well as small-group personal training, depending on your goals and preferences.

I serve clients in Boston, Belmont, Cambridge, Watertown, Arlington, and surrounding areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ATG?

ATG or 'Athletic Truth Group' is the system of training developed by Ben Patrick, Kneesovertoesguy. ATG is built on the philosophy that the body is naturally designed to work well. ATG is a holistic approach to strength training intended to measurable improve pain-free mobility, muscle, and athleticism.

We want to do the activities that we love as long as we can and be able to play and keep up with our kids as they age. ATG is designed to expose weak links and structural imbalances that can be largely attributed to chronic pains. Pain is the thing that keeps us from doing the things we love to do as well as affecting our quality of life.

Another key philosophy of ATG is strength through length. This is the idea that our body is more apt to remember a given range of motion when it knows it needs to use that range. Instead of passively stretching, many ATG movements use weights to get deeper into the stretch, then put strength through that stretched position. Strength through length will help you experience childlike mobility at any age.

How is your training different from other personal trainers?

Our approach is root-cause focused — not cookie-cutter. We use ATG training methods as popularized by 'kneesovertoesguy', Ben Patrick. This means we use pain-free, full-range progressions designed to rebalance the body, restore mobility, and reinforce strength and confidence. By identifying and addressing weak links, we help you move better, stay active longer, and eliminate and avoid chronic pain as you age.

What if I have chronic pain or past injuries?

We specialize in training clients with chronic pain and movement limitations. We use a comprehensive movement assessment in order to determine appropriate exercise regressions for each and every individual. Using regressions allows anyone to start working an area at their pain free level in order to build ability levels and in turn reduce pain, restore function, and build durability. Your safety and comfort are always top priorities.

Do you offer personal training sessions?

Yes, we provide personal training sessions tailored to individual fitness goals and needs. Sessions may be either private 1-1 or small group, so if you have a friend or significant other bring them along! Get in touch for more information on packages and rates.

How quickly will I see results?

Results vary based on factors like commitment, training frequency, lifestyle, and starting point. Many clients begin noticing changes in mobility, stability, and pain reduction within the first few weeks. Some even notice benefits such as decreased pain as soon as the first session. However, significant strength and performance improvements often happen consistently over the first 8–12 weeks of focused training.

How do I get started and what's the first step?

Your first step is to schedule your movement assessment — a comprehensive session to evaluate your movement patterns and design a plan tailored to your goals. From there, we craft a structured program that supports your path to pain-free, confident performance.

Testimonials

Nate Freedman

I’ve been working with Max Weiner for several months now, and the transformation has been incredible. Before starting my sessions, I was struggling with chronic pain and felt far from athletic. Max took the time to understand my individual needs and introduced me to regression exercises that were perfectly suited to my current abilities.

His approach is both thoughtful and strategic. By focusing on addressing my weak links and gradually increasing the intensity, I was able to build strength without aggravating my existing issues. I’ve seen a significant reduction in pain and an increase in my overall athleticism.

I've always aspired to push my running limits, but recurrent injuries were a major roadblock in my journey. That was until I met Max. His expertise and personalized approach have been nothing short of transformative. Max introduced me to the ATG knees over toes protocol, which revolutionized the way I trained. With Max's guidance, not only did I train consistently, but I also gained a newfound confidence in my physical capabilities.
